Inscription. Although set in the ocean, the classic 1958-1961 television series "Sea Hunt" starring Lloyd Bridges filmed many of its scenes at Silver Springs. The show inspired many people to take diving on as a hobby for themselves. Ivan Tors directed and produced the show and recruited Ricou Browning to direct many of the underwater sequences. While at Silver Springs, Mr. Browning got the idea for Flipper and he and Jack Cowden wrote a book about a boy and a Florida dolphin. The book was never published but Ivan Tors made the story into a film. The film was so successful they launched "Flipper," one of television's most popular shows.

Imagine taking a glass bottom boat ride and in addition to fish, turtles, and alligators, you saw scuba divers in hand to hand combat or explorers coming out of the spring caverns.
