WPA Workers at Angel Site
In April, 1939, 20 WPA (Works Progress Administration) workers reported to the Angel Site. They were part of a Depression-era job corps funded by the government.
For the next three years, more than 250 WPA workers excavated most of the 2.5 million artifacts that have been recovered.
The workers' camp was just to the east of this marker.
