Cuyahoga Falls in Summit County, Ohio — The American Midwest (Great Lakes)
Where The Fun Is
People have used the Gorge for recreation for over 100 years.
Though long known as a local scenic landmark, it wasn't until 1878 that the Gorge got its first park - High Bridge Glens Park. Visitors came from as far as New York and Pennsylvania to hike past cliffs and cataracts. The park closed about 1900.
Riverview Park operated in the Gorge between 1918 and 1933, offering a roller coaster, a flying swing ride, various concessions and a dance hall.
Gorge Metro Park opened in 1930 on land donated by the predecessor of Ohio Edison. Every year thousands of area residents visit and enjoy this scenic wonderland of rocks and river.
Erected by Summit Metro Parks.
