Blowing Rock in Watauga County, North Carolina — The American South (South Atlantic)
Mayview Lake
— Blowing Rock History Walk —
In the 1940's and 1950's, the Lake became a popular spot for ice skating, fishing, walking, camping and even winter community bonfires. In the 1950's, “Little Tweetsie Railroad” was installed to the delight of children who rode it around the lake. Little Tweetsie was removed as a part of a Town beautification effort in the 1980's. With a generous donation from the Broyhill family, the area became the beautiful park and scenic lake of today and was aptly named “Broyhill Park”.
