1. Arco di Tito / Arch of Titus Marker
Inscription.

English:
Titu's arch is a single-arched arch made of Greek marble. It was dedicated to "Divus" Titus to celebrate his triumph in the Jewish war of 70 AD. Inside the archway, in the centre of the vault, a relief shows the apotheosis of Titus, ascending to heaven on an eagle. On the walls two large panels illustrate the triumph over Jerusalem: the famous seven-armed candelabrum (menorah) stands out well. The travertine pillars date back to the restoration by Giuseppe Valadier (1822).

The Arch of Titus is a 1st-century AD honorific arch, located on the Via Sacra, Rome, just to the south-east of the Roman Forum. It was constructed in c. AD 81 by the Emperor Domitian shortly after the death of his older brother Titus to commemorate Titus's official deification or consecratio and the victory of Titus together with their father, Vespasian, over the Jewish rebellion in Judaea.
