Inscription. Folklife is the traditional cultural expression of a community or group—foods prepared for a church potluck, games played with a neighbor, songs sung in a community, crafts passed down in a family. While many older traditions persist in the Upper Suwannee River Valley, new folkways are also emerging.

(captions)
Ivey Harris passes on traditional knowledge and family history when he teaches his family how to make cane syrup.

Sally Jones’s rhythmic and improvisational quilts are artistically similar to gospel music found in local African American churches.

Celebrate the music, dance, stories, crafts and food that make Florida unique at the annual Florida Folk Festival on Memorial Day weekend.
