Developed by Julius O. Frost (1839-1913) enterprising landowner, farm and grain merchant, the 8-acre summer amusement area opened in 1895. A Lincoln Cabin replica, pavilion, gazebos and novel trolley-wire ride were set within scenic grounds.
Served by a nearby railroad flagstop, its dances, suppers, picnics, fireworks, musicals, plays and religious meetings attracted thousands. after a gradual decline the park closed in the 1930s.
Earlier, the town pound was on this land, formerly owned by Dr. Cyrus Washburn, Vernon's first resident physician.
