Fun Facts
Hogs were imported from West Africa to America in conjunction with the slave trade. The breed was popular for a long time with southern homesteaders. Kept in the yard where they would eat snakes and thus create a safe zone. Has an advanced sense of taste and is quick to identify unknown objects by taste. A quick learner with substantial memory. Very gentle and easy to care for. Now considered a rare breed because domestic hog growers prefer larger, faster growing breeds.

Erected by Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo.
