Inscription.
Dedicated to the memory of William M. and Emily Larkin, supporters of the museum from its inception. Emily's generosity in memory of her husband prompted the museum to be located on these 21 acres, once a part of their ranch "Little Everglades".

Emily actively supported her husband's agricultural and civic endeavors and for many years served as a trustee of the museum.

William-attorney, lumberman and rancher-established the first Santa Gertrudis herd of cattle east of the Mississippi River beginning with bulls brought to Dade City from the King Ranch in Texas in 1941. He delighted in being known as the "meanest man in Pasco County".

Regarding William M. and Emily Larkin. William Larkin was born in Dade City on October 6, 1899. He received his law degree in 1922 from Stetson University and was admitted to the Florida Bar. He was elected Pasco County Prosecuting Attorney in 1924. He introduced and sponsored the Fence Law of Florida and invented a cattle underpass that is used when a new road separates a piece of land. William M. Larkin died May 26, 1973.
