Formava part de la via que creuava la ciutat romana. El carrer partia del portal del Castell Nou i, en època medieval, es desvià i travessà el mur romà. Donà nom al barri.

The Major Call
Medieval Jewish Quarter, 12th-14th centuries
Carrer del Call
This street formed part of the thoroughfare that crossed Roman Barcelona. It started at the Castell Nou (New Castle) gate and in the medieval period its layout was changed to pass through the Roman wall. This street gives the quarter its name.
