Sint Gillishospitaal / Saint Gillis Hospital

This hospital is mentioned in writing as early as 1286 as Hospitalis Beati Egidij, and it is named after Saint Egidius, also known as Saint Gilles. The hospital includes a chapel and 12 rooms along a corridor. The facade has three windows, set in bluestone frame on either side of the entrance. The windows are equipped with shutters. The entrance is decorated with a facade stone with the year 1762. Above that are the contours of a cut-away representation, it is likely have once been a bust of Saint Gilles with his attributes: a doe and an arrow.
