Presidio of San Francisco in San Francisco City and County, California — The American West (Pacific Coastal)
Old and New on O'Reilly Avenue
Golden Gate National Recreation Area
Between 1902 and 1908, these five elegant officers' quarters were built east of the hospital. At the head of the street, to the left, was Letterman Hospital's commanding officer's quarters. Army surgeons and their families lived in the four duplexes to the right. These rehabilitated Colonial Revival style homes now house small offices.
When the Letterman Digital Arts Center was built in this National Register Historic District, it was designed to blend with the white and red colors and the glassed-in porches of the Letterman's officer's row, knitting together the old and the new.
