1. King Street Gardens Park Marker
Inscription.
■ a living public art sculpture encompassing the entire park ■ a combination of three garden types: a hanging garden, topiary garden and rain garden ■ the result of an international design competition an important example of environmental art ■ changing with the seasons ■ the recipient of major local, state and national grants ■ inspired by features of Alexandria's historic past, such as:

❖ Old Town street grid — rendered by George Washington in 1749
❖ early 19th-century shady tea gardens found behind inns and
❖ restaurants - where business and socializing were conducted in outdoor comfort
❖ George Washington's three-cornered hat
❖ plows, prows, cowcatchers and other symbols of moving forward
❖ ecological origins—this wetland is located at the base of Shooter's Hill (also known as Shuter's Hill) and is drained by Hooff's Run.

Poems at the three corners of the park capture these ideas in shapes that join into one — find the artists' names there.
