Inscription.
On the morning of September 3rd 1960 Officer Gorman surprised two men who were trying to force open the back door of Symmes Restaurant located at 254 Main St. As he chased them through the alley to Main St., one of the pair turned and fired point blank, mortally wounding Officer Gorman. Before he collapsed Officer Gorman emptied his resolver striking one of the suspects.

This memorial is dedicated in appreciation of Officer Gorman's ultimate sacrifice. We honor his unselfish commitment to duty and to the people of Cambridge.
