The original deed issued in the 12th year of the reign of King George the second was granted by William Penn's son in 1749.

Anderson's Ferry, the first ferry extending from Marietta, Lancaster Co. to Accomac, York, Co. was used extensively in colonial days by travelers moving north & south.
