Carcross in Unorganized, Yukon — The Northern Territories (North America)
Nen/Haa aanν/The land
| | Tagish Valley Trail | |
In traditional times the Carcross/Tagish people traveled throughout this area all year long, harvesting seasonal resources such as fish, birds, plants, and animals as they were available. People today maintain this strong connection to the land and water. Just as in the past, they are skilled and adaptive.
Since 2006 the Carcross/Tagish people have been a self-governing First Nation. Stewardship of the land is formalized in their Traditional Territory, which covers more than 1,500 square kilometers. The Citizens of the Carcross/Tagish First Nation incorporate their cultural values into their use of the land and its resources.
