Inscription.
The Colonial, a historic building in Georgetown, was occupied from 1826 to 1861 by Miss Lydia English's Georgetown Female Seminary. After the Union Forces' defeat at the First Battle of Bull Run, the building was repurposed as an Army general hospital for the remainder of the Civil War before being converted into apartments in 1870. Golden Eagle Group, under the supervision of Irfan & Ghazwa Totonji, William A. Gray, and Abjuljabar "Jabs" Totonji, refurbished the property while maintaining and restoring original woodwork, moldings, exposed brick, arches, and large format windows.

Notable visitors include: Martin Van Buren, James Buchanan, Andrew Johnson, Doris Matsui, and Jim Moran
