Kurhaus and orchestra (in translation): Work on the Kurhaus began in 1858. First, Terrassenstrasse was built as access to the future Kurhaus, which proved difficult, so construction of the Kurhaus did not begin until 1862. It was completed in two years and opened in 1864.(Submitted on June 30, 2024.)
When gambling was banned in 1871, however, this meant the end of the casino, but not the Kurhaus. Games were no longer played here, but there was still entertainment. Above all, musical, because the Kurhaus was the home of the Kurhaus spa band, and the Bad Nauheim spa band was considered one of the best and largest. Especially during the time of the orchestra leader Hofrat Prof. Hans Winderstein and his Leipzig Philharmonic Orchestra, who performed as a spa orchestra in Bad Nauheim during the summer months, numerous prominent visitors came just to hear this orchestra. Among them were Hans Albers and the then extremely well-known and popular opera singer Claire Dux.
