1. "Old Tecumseh" Marker
Inscription. This cannon, "Old Tecumseh", was part of gunboat "General Sherman" It was removed from the boat and used as a siege gun in front of McClernand's Corps at Vicksburg in May 1863. It threw shot and shell into the doomed city until it's surrender, July 4th 1863. This was one of five Parrett guns issued to The Soldiers Monumental Association by Act of Congress August 5, 1882.
