1. Sub Seen off Port Aransas Marker

Inscription. A South Jetty subscriber, Ed. Collett of Fort Worth, sent this clipping along, thinking our readers may be interested in what was happening here 32 years ago, this month. He found it in a scrap book kept by his father during the war years. The photos, loaned by Mrs. Ted Mathews, shows the bunker on top of the high dune on the UT land at the north end if the Island. The bunker was used in the early 40's as a lookout for foreign subs, boats or planes. One of the men shown is Bill Silk, now a Benedictine monk, who was stationed here with the Army. The bunker is still visible from Beach St.

No photos have been found of the guns in Port Aransas, because photography was not allowed. All photos used herein were of the same model guns from athe same time period but located at other military installations.
