1. Abraham Lincoln Persimmon Marker
Inscription. The Abraham Lincoln Persimmon shades the yard of the Hardin County, Kentucky, boyhood home of the nation's 16th president. From these humble beginnings, in a small log cabin, came one of America's great leaders, who would guide his nation through its Civil War.

Best known for its sweet orange fruit in autumn, persimmon wood is also used specifically to make golf club heads, billiard cues and shuttles for textile weaving.

Erected by Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District.
