1. Empire State Trail Marker
Lock 8
The Erie Canal's Lock 8 on the Mohawk River includes a three-span movable dam. Measuring 510 feet wide, it is often mistaken for a bridge. When activated, it and lower boats by as much as 15 feet.
The Stockade
Schenectady's Stockade District is the oldest residential neighborhood in the country. Continuously inhabited for more than 300 years, it boasts the richest concentration or historic period homes in the United States.

Long before Lions Park drew thousands to walk and cycle its riverside path, there was a railway line. Bustling with trains, it moved passengers and goods between Schenectady and Troy. Check out the former Niskayuna train station, named to the National Register of Historic Places.
