St. Michael's Parish Cemetery. Celebrating 125 Years. , This little cemetery is a symbol of our parish's care and support for our deceased members and their families. It is a place where generations of believers rest in the company of those who have gone before., It preserves part of our spiritual heritage; the stories, hopes and dreams of our parish ancestors and their many acts of heroism in living the Christian life., They struggled with building up the Kingdom as we do today. They raised families, worked, worshipped and served their generation on their journey of faith. Some day others will reflect on our ability to meet and weather our challenges, to see whether our generation has remained faithful and answered God's call to love and serve Him in this place. Through the power of the Holy Spirit and by His grace, we will.,

Interesting Facts About The Cemetery:. . 7 men are buried here who were accidentally killed building a train tunnel near Mt. Airy. , . There is a plaque in the ground dedicated by the students and alumni of the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery to honor the cadavers buried here. They donated their bodies to dental medical science. , . Near the Hardy Road side of the cemetery is buried Michael Kilgran, a native of Rusky County, Roscommon, Ireland - Born September 27, 1819 - Died September 27, 1887. , . Lilbourn P. Kuhn, the man who met with the mysterious priest in 1879 thus beginning the parish, is buried behind the church. He was Born October 31, 1817 - Died December 21, 1896. On his gravestone is written; "Through whose zeal and generosity St. Michael's Church was built. Well done good and faithful servant." Many members of his family are buried here. , . There are only a few trees left from the dense forest of oak and chestnut trees which originally lay to the north and west of the church. , . John J. Doherty who was Born in 1883 and Died in 1965, was the honorary chairman of the 75th anniversary of the parish held on September 23, 1956. It was observed by a fellow parishioner that "Mr. Doherty seemed to be something of a fiery St. Michael himself when running the affairs of the little church." His loyalty and devotion knew no limits. , . The cemetery operates now under the loving care and direction of E. Donald Warfield and Larry Pugh., "There fore, since we for our part are surrounded by this cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every encumbrance of sin which clings to us and persevere in running the race which lies ahead." , (Hebrews 2: 19-22).
