Inscription. Charles F. Touchton, Sr. was born on July 7, 1883 in Stockton, Georgia. He moved to Dade City in 1904, subsequently graduated from the Atlanta School of Pharmacy, and returned to Dade City in 1906 where he established Touchton Drug Company in which he was involved for most of the next 50 years. He was a pharmacist, businessman, rancher, citrus grower, civic leader, Charter Member of the Dade City Kiwanis Club, and Sunday School teacher and Chairman of the Board of Deacons of the First Baptist Church of Dade City. He was an early President (1911-1912) of the Dade City Board of Trade - now the Greater Dade City Chamber of Commerce - and later chaired the committee which established on Meridian Avenue the "White Way", the first substantial installation of electric street lights in downtown Dade City. He married Ruth Embry "Miss Polly" Touchton on June 17, 1908, and they became the parents in 1911 of Charles F. Touchton, Jr. "Dr. Touchton" , as the senior Touchton was known by many, died on June 8, 1957.

Ruth Marie Embry "Miss Polly" Touchton was born in Bennettstown, Kentucky on March 28, 1887 and arrived in Dade City by train on January 5, 1898 with her parents and seven brothers. She attended Dade City schools and Agnes Scott Institute (now Agnes Scott College) in Decatur, Georgia. A devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother

and great-grandmother, she was an active volunteer in many areas of the life of her community. She was a Charter Member of the Dade City Woman's Club in 1909, a Red Cross volunteer in World War I, the longest serving member (77 years) of the First Presbyterian Church of Dade City where she was a Sunday School teacher and leader, a Charter Member of the Dade City Garden Club, a friend to many and loved by all who knew her. Touchton Park was named originally for "Miss Polly" by Dade City's Commissioners following her death on May 1, 1986 at the age of 99.
