Class of 1906
1886-1944
through the generosity of his daughters
Ann Lee Saunders Brown and Jane Quinn Saunders.
While maintaining a high academic standing in his class, Mr. Saunders was a member of the VMI baseball team, served as advertising editor of the yearbook and was assistant leader, Final German Ball. He graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering and was elected by this class to be their Valedictorian.
Mr. Saunders love of farming led him to study agriculture at Cornell University. He returned to his native Virginia, where he oversaw the operation of several family farms in Charles City County. As a businessman, he served as president of Atlantic Life Insurance Company and retired as Chairman of the Board. He then continued his passion for farming in Goochland County.
