Nació en Pénjamo, Guanajuato. Considerado como "El Padre de la Patria" inició en septembre de 1810 el movimiento por la Independencia de México, del que fue "Generalísimo". Abolió la esclavitud y los tributos indígenas.

Born in Penjamo, Guanajuato, Known as the "Father of the Nation", Hidalgo initiated in September 1810 Mexico's movement of Independence from Spain, in which he served as "Generalissimo" He abolished slavery and indigenous troutes.
