The Jamaica Bay Greenway is a 19-mile loop, multi-use recreational path. It connects the city to more than 10,000 acres of federal, state, and city park land. Destinations such as Floyd Bennett Field, Fort Tilden, Jacob Riis Park, Canarsie Pier, Rockaway Beach, and the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge encourage people to observe and explore.
These connected park sites offer many opportunities for healthy outdoor adventures. Biking, hiking, birding, sunbathing, and swimming are some of the activities available for everyone to enjoy.

Marine Park: Visit New York City Park Department's Salt Marsh Nature Center. Enjoy birding and wildflowers while hiking along the Gerritsen Creek Nature Trail that borders the salt marsh in Jamaica Bay.
Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge: Explore the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge. See migrating birds while walking trails and learn more by joining ranger-led programs and experiencing exhibits.
Fort Tilden: Discover natural habitats, scenic views, and military history at Fort Tilden. Once part of New York City's harbor defense, the fort is now a place for healthy activities and recreation.
Rockaway Beach: Visit New York's only surfing area, a boardwalk for strolling, and a popular place for swimming, fishing, sunbathing, and volleyball.
Riis Beach: View the historic 1930s bathhouse and enjoy the boardwalk and beach, a popular spot for swimming and sunbathing.
Floyd Bennett Field: Hike the Dead Horse Bay nature trails to scenic views of lower New York Harbor, and the North Forty trails through marsh lands and a newly planted forest. See volunteers working on the park's collection of historic aircraft and learn about the aircraft from people who once flew them.
Plumb Beach: View threatened horseshoe crabs and shorebirds, launch a kayak, or explore the tidal flats at low tide.
