Charles Floyd Touchton, Jr. (1911-1988) and Thelma Hannon Touchton (1911-1988). Touchton Park. , Charles F. Touchton, Jr. was the only child of Charles F. Touchton, Sr. and Ruth Embry "Miss Polly" Touchton. In addition to his success as an insurance professional as the owner of Touchton Insurance Agency for more than four decades, he also raised cattle, grew citrus and was active in many civic endeavors. Born in Dade City on March 22, 1911, he was the first Eagle Scout in Pasco County in 1927. He attended the University of Florida and George Washington University, married Thelma Gray Hannon of Gainesville in 1934, returned to Dade City in 1937 to join his father in Touchton Drug Company, and served in the U.S. Maritime Service (Merchant Marine) during the last few months of World War II. He was the Charter President of the Dade City Rotary Club in 1949, a member of the Pasco County School Board from 1955-1959, a City Commissioner of Dade City from 1965-1971 during which time he was Mayor of Dade City for two years, and was Chairman of the Jackson Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees from 1968-1971. He was known by many as "Dade City's personal greeter" before his death on May 26, 1988., Thelma Gray Hannon Touchton was born in Gainesville, Florida on September 24, 1911. She graduated from Florida State College for Women (now Florida State University), married Charles F. Touchton, Jr. in 1934, and became a resident of Dade City in 1937. She was a smart, independent, talented and multi-faceted woman who was a supportive wife and a devoted mother to their three children while also contributing to her community. She was an active gardener with a talent for flower arranging and was President of the Dade City Garden Club in 1949-50. She served later as President of the Women's Auxiliary of Jackson Memorial Hospital and held leadership positions at both the First Presbyterian Church and the First Methodist Church in Dade City. She was an avid reader with an inquiring mind which set a good example for her children. She died on December 9, 1988.
