Built in 1885, this frame Victorian house retains many of its original features such as its modillioned box cornice with dentils, shingles with floral decorations, and a porch with decorative sawn woodwork. The home had numerous residents through at least the first quarter of the twentieth century, with Eliza, Frank, and Lewis Godsey its first recorded tenants. Other residents included William Fort, livery stable hand, Cornell Lawrence, box maker, Flavis D. Goode, cigarette maker, and Cary Eggleston, clerk for the C&O Railroad's 9th Street freight depot. At least three widows, Mrs. S. C. Lord, Mrs. M. E. Wrenn, and Mrs. Alice K. Witham, made the house their home between 1885 and 1930. The house is listed as a contributing structure to the Church Hill North Historic District on the Virginia Landmarks Register and the National Register of Historic Places.
