1. Purchase of the Steamer Nenana Marker
The Chamber of Commerce bought the SS Nenana in 1957 from the Alaska Railroad then sold it to the Greater Fairbanks Opportunities Inc., an offshoot of businessmen from the Chamber of Commerce. The Greater Fairbanks Opportunities Inc. brought the SS Nenana to Fairbanks as a business venture to bring more tourists to Fairbanks.
