1. "Dover Steam Mill" Marker
Inscription. James Morson's Mill, built around 1853, was used to grind local grain. Water was pumped from a spring well and turned into steam in the boiler. Large grinding stones crushed the kernels. The grain was then transported by canal boat to market. During the Civil War, Morson's grain helped feed Confederate soldiers until the mill was burned down during Dahlgren's raid.
