Excerpt: "The bridge's age, designation as a historic structure, and lack of original engineering documents all presented challenges to demolition. A two-span, post-tensioned concrete bridge was designed as a replacement. Prefabricated arch forms were used to simplify the complicated layout and fabrication of the deck forms. The bridge also faced several environmental issues, including the removal of asbestos-laden asphalt from the bridge deck and the use of a turbidity curtain to reduce the amount of sediment in the water. Attention to aesthetic details and pedestrian amenities make the replacement bridge an attractive substitution for the original bridge."(Submitted on September 17, 2024, by Sean P.
