"This is one of the wonders of the world! People will come from all quarters of the globe and will pay great sums of money to gaze on what we behold." - Edwin Dilworth "Dee" Woolley

A visionary entrepreneur, "Uncle Dee" pushed to make the North Rim's scenic wonders a tourist destination. He invited dignitaries to hep promote a potential railroad line but when the railroad showed no interest, and the automobile industry increased, "Dee" brought the first cars to the North Rim. With the formation of the Grand Canyon Transportation Company, he created the first direct route from the North Rim, via the Woolley Trail, to the Colorado River. After construction of the river cable tram, visitors could continue their journey across the river to the South Rim. "Uncle Dee's" pioneering spirit lives on in visitors today as they explore the roads and trails of the North Rim.
