1. Lock Houses Marker
Inscription.
These lock houses were built in 1916 to house the lock masters and chief engineers and their families. They were lived in by the different lock masters and engineers until the demolition of the lock in 1965. After that time, they were rented out to families by the Rice's Landing Authority. In the year 2000, it was declared that these were the only two historical lock houses existing together. At that time, they were given to the Borough Council to be used as a park office and one was to be available for rental.
