Sand Dune Access
The sand dunes of Jockey's Ridge showcase an unparalleled view of sound to sea. The largest active sand dune system on the East Coast is a place to see the local landmarks in the distance. A legend is told of spectators lining the dunes to view wild mustangs race below. Today, the dunes remain a place for climbing towards that vantage point showing all the activity, history, and scenery our coast has to offer. The highest point is approximately one half-mile from the visitor center.
