1. Confederate Cemetery Marker

Inscription. In the cemetery north of the road are buried Confederate soldiers of the Army of Tennessee, who fell while opposing the advance of Rosecrans' Army of the Cumberland through Liberty Gap and Guy's Gap, in late June, 1863. Also buried here are soldiers of Forrest's Cavalry, killed in minor operations.

James F. Cummings, native of Shelbyville, sold this land to the City of Shelbyville for a new cemetery.

Served the Confederate cause as Chief Commissary under Generals Braxton Bragg, E. Kirby Smith, J.E. Johnson and J.B. Hood.

Was buried in Atlanta and later moved by his son-in-law to be buried here at Willow Mount in an unknown, unmarked grave.
