Dunbar's Camp
This tablet marks the site of Dunbar's Camp the furthermost point reached by Colonel Thomas Dunbar who commanded the 44th regiment of General Braddock's Army.
One tenth of a mile to the northward is the Washington-Braddock Road.
Braddock with his retreating army encamped here July 11-12, 1755. Here Braddock spent his last night on earth. He died at the Orchard Camp July 13 at 8 p.m.
Washington spent several days at this camp.
