1. Dark Island Marker
Inscription.
Dark Island was known as Lone Star Island by the Algonquin and Huron Indians who frequented it. Many arrowheads have been found on the island, along with trails and a granite grindstone which can be seen at the far end of the dock below.

The Island has been charted as Bluff Island (1818) and Round Island (1872). The first recorded purchase was in 1891 by William H. Harison, Jr. and Golden Rhind. Commodore Frederick Gilbert Bourne purchased the island in 1902.
