Missouri Research Park and Vicinity
This 700-acre high-tech and research corridor is part of the University of Missouri System's statewide network of research parks, and provides a thriving environment for new discoveries and ideas to develop into viable, successful business opportunities.
Opened in 1985, the Missouri Research Park provides an environment for affordable, high-quality laboratory and office space and offers emerging companies resources to increase their chances of success.
The technology infrastructure and the high-tech orientation attract new startup companies from university research efforts, as well as national and international tenants, representing ideas in a wide range of disciplines and spur quality job creation, which in turn advances Missouri's economy and benefits campus research.
The University ensures a campus-like setting by insisting on high-quality architectural and landscape design, integrated into a carefully preserved and sensitively enhanced natural environment. At least a third of each tenant site is left as green space. The rolling hills, old hardwood forests, walking trails and four scenic lakes create a comfortable workplace as well as a natural habitat.
Daytime occupants of this office park enjoy these outdoor amenities, accessible parking, easy access to highways, and the 18-hole Missouri Bluffs golf course.
Duckett Creek Sanitary District
The high-tech wastewater treatment plant along the trail began operations in 1997. It is designed to treat up to eight million gallons of wastewater a day. It serves more than 24,000 people in a 30-square mile area.
The eight-acre plant uses a state-of-the-art natural treatment process that involves no chemicals and recycles all end products - clean water and bio solids - back into nature.
The District used environmentally sound design and construction practices to build the plant amidst the trees on the Missouri River bluff. Three watersheds were redirected to prevent flooding and every rock removed from the bluff was recycled as on-site fill.
Duckett Creek Sanitary District has received numerous awards, including the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 7 "Wastewater Excellence Award."
Missouri Bluffs Golf Club
Nature laid the groundwork for the championship Missouri Bluffs Golf Club, and legendary golf course architect Tom Fazio gave it form.
The challenging 18-hole course is surrounded by thick groves
of mature trees on steep-hilled terrain, providing a course that is both exquisite to view and exciting to play. Golfers often stumble upon deer, wild turkey, fox and other wildlife on the award-winning 235-acre course.
Missouri Bluffs has hosted qualifying tournaments for the PGA Tour and USGA, and prestigious events including the St. Louis Nike Classic.
