Inscription. Many years ago on this site, by the waters of three rivers, stood the tipis of the Dakota and buffalo roamed freely. This carving, on an oak tree over 200 years old, honors the people of the Dakota Indian Nation and the heritage of Breckenridge.

Erected 2001 by Project Breckenridge.
