Regarding Old Settlers' Cemetery. The list on these two tablets includes 72 different gravesites, a handful of which are for multiple people; the list lines up quite well with the 79 names included on this cemetery's Find a Grave listing. The inscription above includes any misspellings, of which there appears to be at least a handful (e.g., the name of the last person on the list was Fordie Williams, with

an s, who died in 1894 at age 4).

The Martha Ibbetson chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in 1933 and remains active today in Elmhurst, the city just west of Berkeley. The border between Cook and DuPage counties ⅓ of a mile west of here along with the mid-20th century construction of expressways in the Chicago area — and in this area the Eisenhower Expressway (Interstate 290 today) and the Tri-State Tollway (Interstate 294) — create a separation between two neighboring suburbs that had in earlier days shared much in common. For example, the Glos family, which has at least 9 gravesites here in Berkeley, is the namesake of the family graveyard with eight graves, about Ύ of a mile west of here in Elmhurst; another Glos, named Henry, was Elmhurst's first village president and is buried with his wife in a mausoleum near downtown Elmhurst.
