1. Route 66 Trail Marker
Inscription. This trail follows the south side of historic Route 66 from downtown Flagstaff to the east side of town. In the mid 1990s the City removed a series of Billboards from the strip or land between Route 66 and the BNSF railroad tracks, and replaced it with landscaping and the urban trail. In the years since, one of Flagstaff's first urban trails has become one of its most heavily used for commuting.

At the east end of the trail, just east of Fanning Drive, a short segment or the historic pavement for Route 66 (pre-1948) has been preserved in place and made part of the trail.

Erected by Flagstaff Urban Trails System.
