Yogi Berra
1925-2015 | Born in St. Louis, MO

Born Lawrence P. Berra, this baseball catcher played primarily for the New York Yankees. Selected as an All Star 18 times, Berra is one of only five players to be an American League MVP three times. His 1947 pinch-hit home run was the first in World Series history. Regarded as one of baseball's greatest catchers, Berra is also known for his comical "Yogi-isms."

George Brett
1953-Present | Lived in St. Louis, MO

This Baseball Hall of Famer served as third baseman for the Kansas City Royals, accumulating 3,000+ hits, 1,500 RBIs, 600 doubles, 300 home runs, 200 stolen bases and 100 triples throughout his career.

Lou Brock
1939-Present | Lived in St. Louis, MO

Nicknamed "The Running Redbird," this Baseball Hall of Fame outfielder holds the St. Louis Cardinals' record with a career 938 stolen bases. Brock was selected as an All Star six times and completed 12 straight seasons with more than 50 stolen bases.

Dan Faurot
1902-1995 | Born in Mountain Grove, MO

This three-sport letterman at the University of Missouri later became the head football coach at Mizzou, holding the position for more than 20 years. Faurot is known for his version of the football offensive T-formation

Mannie Jackson
1939 - Present | Born in Illmo, MO

This former Big Ten All-American basketball star played for the Harlem Globetrotters and later became owner. Jackson is the first African American to own a major sport organization and is recognized as one of the nation's most powerful and influential black corporate executives.

Stan Musial
1920-2013 | Lived in St. Louis, MO

Nicknamed "Stan the Man," this Baseball Hall of Fame outfielder and first baseman spent 22 seasons in Major League Baseball playing for the St. Louis Cardinals. Musial appeared in 24 All-Star games and won three MVP awards.

Dred Scott
1795 - 1858 | Lived in St. Louis, MO

This enslaved African American unsuccessfully sued for his freedom and that of his family in 1857. Known as the Dred Scott Decision, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that African Americans had no claim to freedom or citizenship. The decision increased tensions between northern and southern states, pushing the country towards the Civil War. In 1857, the Scott family was freed by the owner. Scott died less than a year later.
