In Memory of Alexander Query and Peggy McCord Query
Inscription.
In memory of Alexander Queary and wife Peggy McCord Queary who, for religious freedom and for love of each other, fled to this land of liberty and near this spot found a home wherein they reared their children. Their descendants erect this monument to these godly pioneers, in the hope that future generations of their blood may emulate their God fearing and liberty loving ancestors.

Alexander Query was born in Scotland and came to the America about 1765. He settled in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. He joined with the colonist and certificates of his service during the Revolutionary War are available in the record of the North Carolina Historical commission.
