1. The Tribute of the South to S.A. Cunningham marker

Inscription. The Tribute of the South to S.A. Cunningham, founder and editor of the "Confederate Veteran", January, 1893 - December, 1913. He gathered the history of his people written in tears but radiant with glory.

A gallant Confederate soldier, Born 1843 - Died 1913. In 1893 he established the "Confederate Veteran" and owned and edited it until his death.

"On fame's eternal camping ground his silent tent is spread, and glory guards, in solemn round, the bivouac of the dead."

A member of Co. B 41 Tenn. Inf. Army of Tenn. Paricipated in and captured at the Battle of Ft. Donelson. When exchanged, he returned to the army, and engaged in the One Hundred Days Battle, from Dalton to Atlanta, GA. Marched with the army to Tenn. and was in the battles of Franklin and Nashville.
