Friends of Stony Run
Since the 1990s, more and more neighbors and community groups recognized the scenic beauty of the Stony Run and its Maryland & Pennsylvania ("Ma & Pa") Railroad history. Many became involved with the City of Baltimore in the critical rehabilitation of the Stony Run stream and surrounding green spaces—section by section on both public parkland and private property. Enchanted by frequent walks on the Ma & Pa railbed pathway, long-time residents envisioned a continuous walking path connecting the length of the Stony Run from the Jones Falls to Northern Parkway. In July 2011, the Friends of Stony Run officially formed with the representation from the neighborhoods and institutions the length of the stream valley.

A volunteer and non-profit-based organization, the Friends of Stony Run comes together for stream cleanups, tree plantings, invasive plant removals, bird walks, history tours and other activities to celebrate, preserve and protect the Stony Run Valley. In 2017, the Friends of Stony Run celebrates the installation of two Maryland State-funded pedestrian bridges by Linkwood Road and University Parkway, which for the first time enable the public to traverse a path the entire length of Stony Run.

The Friends of Stony Run welcomes your involvement.
