Jan 1928 · 8000 Checker Cabs operate in New York City.
1970's - 80's · Checker Cabs were prominently featured in the Television show Taxi, which was set in the "Sunshine Cab Company" headquarters in NYC.
July 1982 · Last Checker Cab rolls off the production line.
Aug 1999 · The New York City Taxi & Limousine Commission retires cab #INII, the last Checker Cab in New York City.
2006 · Today's Demand for a New York City cab license has pushed the cost upwards of $350,000, and it's displayed by a "medallion" attached to the hood of the vehicle.
