Inscription. Triumph Church was first located at 971 N. Cove Blvd (now MLK Blvd). Historical documentation describes the church: Services in unpainted, rectangular, frame building erected in 1931, purchased from African Universal Commercial League, and dedicated March 24, 1936, founding pastor Rev. Dunbar. The 1962 City directory shows Triumph at 1017 N. Cove Blvd.

Two women devoted to this church were Florida Hopson and Winnie Temple (her step-daughter). Temple's obituary printed March 5, 1998, shared that she was a lifelong Christian of Triumph. She worked various capacities of the Church and committed her total life to God. Her most outstanding honor was that she attained the State Mother in the Triumph Church. She was a worldwide traveler and devoted citizen in the community. Both Florida and Winnie pass away at the age of 86, 10 years apart.
