Lebanon Union Cemetery. . Local residents met on September 24, 1866, to organize a society to establish a church open to multiple Christian denominations, schoolhouse, and cemetery under the name Lebanon Union. Today, the cemetery sits on the western edge of Alexandria, in what was once part of Fairfax County. Two brick buildings, used as both a chapel and a schoolhouse, existed on this site prior to the formal establishment of the cemetery. The first was constructed ca. 1833 and was destroyed by the Union army and the second was built ca. 1864 and stood until Little River Turnpike was enlarged in the 1950s. The church once affiliated with the cemetery is no longer in existence. Lebanon Union Cemetery is now maintained by the City of Alexandria.
