From Earth's far distant reaches he brought the beasts of the soil the birds of the air and the life of the sea that all might learn the wonders of created life.

Dedicated to Dr. Harry M. Wegeforth, founder and president of the Zoological Society of San Diego, whose wide vision and untiring labor secured this zoological collection and planted this garden for the instruction and enjoyment of the people.

The San Diego Zoological Garden is the living monument to his ideals, faith and courage.
